With this, the season comes to an end. The team had to overcome multiple challenges and problems, but in the end managed to make it a success. Some of the highlights of the season were: attending the ZF and Norelem race camps, exhibiting AMZ cars at the Formula E Zurich, and performing at Formula Student Italy and Formula Student Germany.

The grand finale of the season for ‹‹gotthard driverless›› was the prestigious event at  Hockenheimring on 6-12 August 2018. With over 110 registered teams, 17 of which were driverless, the competition was a very tough week.

Monday and Tuesday were reserved exclusively for scrutineering, which all teams have to pass to be allowed to participate in the dynamic events. On Wednesday, the static events took place. During the day, the team presented a detailed bill of the car, defended their design decisions, and gave insight in the business plan. Finally, on Thursday the wheels started rolling on the test track for driverless, as teams got a chance to practice a few more times before the real events on Friday. In acceleration, skidpad, and trackdrive <<gotthard>> was able to show its competition skills. After this eventful week, the driverless teams could relax on Saturday and watch the endurance race of the combustion and electric teams.

The team is delighted to announce that ‹‹gotthard driverless›› received the first overall place for the driverless division, as well as first place for engineering design, trackdrive, efficiency and skidpad. To top it off, ‹‹eiger›› also achieved first place in the electric division, scoring AMZ Racing a double win.

The team is already preparing for the next season, with a final team meeting to reflect on the year’s results, and which opportunities and challenges lie ahead for the team of 2019. To ensure success for future driverless generations, knowledge transfer to the new team is crucial.
